HIBT 3+3 - Three Boards in One
The HIBT 3+3 is the first full collaboration between Billy Tolhurst and Harley Ingleby - a brand-new design built from scratch. While previous Tolhurst x Thunderbolt models have evolved from Billy’s 50+ years of model refinement, this one’s different. Billy and Harley teamed up from day one to create something completely new and was put through more R&D than any previous model.
Taking the versatility of the HIBT to new levels is the 3+3 fin system, letting you ride it as a true quad, true twin, or an asym fin setup. It’s like having three boards in one - super versatile, super fun.
The HIBT is designed to suit a wide range of surfers. All sizes are very fast and incredibly loose off the top, even as a quad. The subtle but effective bottom on the HIBT keeps the front free and neutral meaning you can ride it comfortably on or over volumed.
The shorter sizes (5’10, 6’0, 6’2) are perfect for those looking for a performance shortboard in Thunderbolt tech. The bigger sizes (6’6, 6’10, 7’2) offer more flow and paddle power - ideal for downsizing from a longboard or complementing a MID6 or MOE.

Thunderbolt Technology
Thunderbolt Technology employs cutting-edge materials and techniques to reduce weight while simultaneously enhancing performance, flexibility, board control, and durability. In stark contrast to mass-produced epoxy boards that tend to feel rigid and unresponsive, Thunderbolt's meticulously handcrafted boards elevate the use of superior epoxy materials to a whole new level. These boards offer the same feel and sensitivity as high-quality polyurethane boards but surpass traditional epoxy pop-out constructions in terms of performance. Riders who have experienced these state-of-the-art epoxy boards often claim that they actually provide a superior experience to polyurethane boards.
Each Thunderbolt board is crafted entirely by hand. The process starts with an EPS foam core equipped with a multi-component carbon fiber stringer system, meticulously engineered to deliver optimal flex and responsiveness. Proprietary designs incorporating internal carbon fiber components are strategically positioned on both the deck and the bottom of the board to ensure precise control over flex and maximize strength.
The core shield PVC layer acts as a flexible protective barrier, bolstering the board's durability and strength without compromising its inherent flex and twist characteristics. Abundant use of carbon fiber and fiberglass in the deck, bottom, and rails ensures that Thunderbolt boards not only outperform but also outlast traditional polyurethane boards and other epoxy designs.
