Slimes Newcastle is the Worldwide retail base for Mark Richards Surfboards - MR is frequently in store picking up order forms and blanks, or just hanging out. Store owner Mick Adam has been Mark's right-hand man since they were teenagers - whether that's in the surf, glassing/sanding his boards or manning the counter at Ray Richards/Mark Richards Surf Shop.

Mark Richards is an international surfing and shaping icon, born and bred right here in Newcastle. MR won his 4x Surfing World Titles in a run of domination from 1979 - 1982 and is the second most successful male competitive surfer of all time (there's no shame in losing to Kelly Slater). Mark is also the only surfer to ever win World Titles on self-shaped boards and has been honing his craft ever since to become one of the greatest surfboard shapers of all time.
